Today marks the final day of operation for the “Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.” Work has already begun in the surrounding area of the ride, preparing for dismantlement tomorrow, August 18th. Opening on August 19th, 2009, Rip Ride Rockit is closing just shy of its 16th birthday.

Numerous rumors have circulated regarding the coaster’s replacement, most notably a duplicate of “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” which is set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood next year. Universal has not confirmed this theory. Regardless, the world’s first non-inverting loop deserves a replacement just as ambitious.
