We tried the Krispy Kreme x Harry Potter collaboration!

We ordered one Harry Potter Specialty Dozen + Sorting Hat Combo, two Sorting Hat Doughnuts, one Iced Golden Snitch Specialty Latte, and one Hot Golden Snitch Specialty Latte. We ordered for pickup at 6:45 a.m., and the total cost was $43.43, including tax.

Drinks

The Golden Snitch Specialty Lattes are caramel toffee lattes with whipped cream, Biscoff cookie crumble, and golden sugar toppings. Unfortunately, neither of the drinks we ordered had any of the toppings.

The Iced Golden Snitch Specialty Latte had a light caramel and toffee flavor, but was not overwhelming nor overly sweet.

The Hot Golden Snitch Specialty Latte had no caramel or toffee flavor. It tasted like a plain, regular coffee.

Doughnuts

The Sorting Hat Doughnut was our favorite snack of the order. The doughnut was chocolaty but not overly sweet. The filling was the sweetest component of the doughnut, but did not have a specific flavor note to list. The sorting hat topping piece was simply a cut-out piece of fondant.

The Gryffindor Doughnut was significantly sweeter than the Sorting Hat Doughnut. The cookie crumble added texture, but not much flavor, and the Gryffindor crest was a fondant piece, just like the Sorting Hat Doughnut. However, the cookie butter filling was delicious. The filling was absolutely the best filling of the collaboration; we just wish there was more of it. Compared to the Sorting Hat Doughnut, the filling of the Gryffindor Doughnut was barely there, despite how good it was.

The Hufflepuff Doughnut was easily the most well-balanced of the filled doughnuts. The brown butter toffee flavor was scrumptious and, unlike the Gryffindor Doughnut, had plenty inside. We would easily order the Hufflepuff Doughnut again.

The Slytherin Doughnut was our least favorite of the bunch. It was not bad, just the most basic option. Its design is quite cute with the swirling frosting, but the look doesn’t make up for the flavor. It is a glazed doughnut with chocolate, green buttercreme frosting, and sugar. The chocolate was overpowered by the sugar topping. When paired with the green buttercreme, it just tastes like a simple glazed doughnut with extra sugar.

Slytherin Doughnut

Like the Slytherin Doughnut, the Ravenclaw Doughnut is much simpler than the filled doughnuts, but we enjoyed this doughnut more than Slytherin’s. The Ravenclaw Doughnut is a glazed doughnut with blueberry-flavored icing and sprinkles. While arguably more basic than the Slytherin Doughnut, the Ravenclaw Doughnut’s flavor was significantly better. The blueberry flavoring was easy to note, while not overwhelming the glazed doughnut.

Other important notes are that by the time we arrived at our pick-up location, only two Sorting Hat Doughnuts remained. A store employee mentioned they would need to take the doughnuts off the site soon. By 8:30 am, all Harry Potter doughnuts could no longer be ordered and were marked as unavailable. The drinks were still available.

Overview

Fans of Harry Potter and sweets will probably enjoy the Krispy Kreme doughnuts, but might be disappointed by the drinks. The favorite doughnut of the PotterSpotter crew was the Sorting Hat Doughnut. From the sweet filling to the chocolaty topping, this doughnut outshone the rest.  We would then rank the Hufflepuff as second and the Gryffindor as third. Gryffindor would be our second-place choice, but there was simply not enough filling to justify a higher score. The Ravenclaw Doughnut came in fourth, and Slytherin fell in fifth.

We tried two of the three Golden Snitch drinks: Hot and Iced. While the Iced Golden Snitch Specialty Latte was good, it was not out of this world. We believe it is worth a try, but not something we would go out of our way to reorder. The Hot Golden Snitch Specialty Latte was an easy skip. It had no distinguishable flavor and was unmemorable.
