Deadline has reported that actor John Lithgow is in negotiations to play Professor Albus Dumbledore in HBO’s Harry Potter Series. If this is true, John Lithgow would be the fifth actor to play Dumbledore on screen. However, HBO has not confirmed the involvement of any actors at this time.

As the Open Casting Call for Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley requested the young actors to be between 9 and 11 years old by April, perhaps we will hear concrete casting in April. Production is anticipated to begin this summer. The series is still planned to air in 2026/2027.
