The Nintendo Switch 2 is now available! Although we wish Hogwarts Legacy 2 had been released alongside the new Switch, several updates for Hogwarts Legacy came with the new device. These include new controls, smoother transitions, faster loading times, and enhanced visuals. Veterans of the game do not need to purchase a new version to play on the Nintendo Switch 2. To transfer your save data, follow the Nintendo Support instructions or PortKey Games support. Data transfers only work from the Nintendo Switch to the Nintendo Switch 2. No game progress made on the Nintendo Switch 2 can be transferred to the Nintendo Switch 1.

Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch 1 vs 2
To access the updates, the Nintendo Switch 2 version must be in use. Again, if you already own the game, you do not need to purchase a new copy. Instead, take advantage of the owner’s discount either through the game or eShop.
